9 months ago I got the great news that I probably would be invited to join the Peace Corps. 4 months ago I was told it was going to be JAMAICA! I am very excited! I am looking forward to real change.
Goals before I depart are:
1) Learn a little Patios
2) Work at Yellow Bike and Habitat as often as possible
3) Read a book about sanitation techniques

August 1, 2008 Up and coming
....
Few Weeks later
I recently received my peace corps assignment in the mail... JAMAICA!... I'm thrilled!!
It's going to be more than a year from when I started my application to my actually arrive in Jamaica. A lot of people complain that the process takes too long but I think I have the record. No problem man. ha
Why I am pumped about Jamaica-
1) It's the third largest island in the Caribbean, so hopefully I don't get Cabin Fever.
2) It's far away but it's comparatively close by so I shouldn't waste a lot of my off time on a plane when I take a trip back to the America.
3) If I ever get overwhelmed and need a taste of America (ie Wendy's) I should be able to find some American influences (I could see this becoming a drag after a while)
4) Friends and family are likely to visit
5) Reggae concerts
6) English (or a form of it) is spoken. I originally wanted to learn a completely different language but taking my futile attempts to learn Arabic into account, I would rather be able to communicate more freely.
Excuse my unbridled excitement. JAMAICA!!!!!!!!
